We are hiring a Lab Technician/Operator to work in a brand new state of the art treatment plant in Sioux City, NE! The Lab Technician/Operator is responsible for safe, efficient, and effective operation and testing at the treatment facility.

What you will do:
  • Ensures the plant functions to its optimum capability in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Monitors, observes variation, and interprets performance of all equipment, gauges, meters, control panels and charts to determine processing requirements.
  • Extracts samples and performs routine and non-routine laboratory tests and analysis.
  • Assembles instruments and equipment for analytical or research work.
  • Safely prepares chemical and bacteriological media, stains, reagents, and tests solutions used in the laboratory. Cleans, maintains, and stores instruments and equipment.
  • Maintains accurate records, reports and logging of all pertinent information required in wastewater treatment operations. Work includes preparation and submittal of necessary data and reports to other governmental agencies as required,
  • May serve as the responsible operator-in-charge of the overall operation of the treatment plant.
  • May train/coach new personnel in the operation and testing at the plant.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Background/ Experience:
  • High School diploma required.
  • Associate of Science in Water Environment Technical program preferred.
  • Grade I or higher Water Treatment Operator’s license preferred. We will assist you with obtaining your Grade 4 license.
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week Monday- Friday with some weekends on-call.
