Osceola County Rural Water System, Inc. (Est. 1981) is a multi-county, potable water supplier located in Northwest Iowa. The service area includes Osceola, O’Brien, Lyon and Dickinson Counties with over 1,500 miles of water distribution pipeline. The water system serves 3,000 plus accounts and provides the water needs of several communities including: West Lake Okoboji, Lake Park, Harris, Little Rock, Lincoln/Pipestone Rural Water (MN), Bigelow (MN), Melvin, Sibley, Ashton, Sutherland and Calumet to name a few. Water is produced and delivered from two different water sources - the May City water treatment (groundwater) plant can produce up to 6 MGD, the Sutherland water treatment (groundwater) plant can produce up to 2.8 MGD. Annual water sales of around 1.5 billion gallons (combined) is the sole source of revenue for the corporation.

Duties of this position include safety and compliance monitoring, inventory control, facilities maintenance (both treatment & distribution) and mapping (GIS). This position does not include any direct supervisory responsibilities and reports directly to the Operator-in-Charge. This position requires what is deemed to be a team effort to ensure the successful operation and maintenance of two water treatment plants along with the distribution facilities (wells, pumps, water mains and valves). Current staff includes three office/administrative personal, along with seven full time field staff, a full-time seasonal operator, and part time summer staff. Prospective employees would be able to reside anywhere inside of the distribution system area to include the Iowa Great Lakes (Milford, Arnolds Park, Okoboji, Spirit Lake, Wahpeton, and Orleans).

Pre-employment physical, drug screen, and back ground check required. Applicant must possess a valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a CDL. Applicant will also be expected to have or acquire a Grade 1 water treatment and grade 1 distribution certification as specified by IA DNR within a year of employment. The water system will provide the right employee with the necessary tools, time and financial support to obtain required licenses.
