Electric Distribution Operator (Lineman) and/or Electric/Water/Locating/GPS (Entry Level Position): Greenfield Municipal Utilities (GMU) is accepting applications for these fulltime positions. Qualified (Lineman) applicant shall be a graduate from a power line school with experience in the electric utility industry. Lineman applicant should have the knowledge/skills used in the operation, maintenance & installation of overhead and underground electric distribution systems. The (Entry Level) applicant shall be a high school graduate or have a GED, have excellent work ethics and the ability to learn all the duties needed to become a lineman or water specialist/operator. Locating skills and/or use of GPS equipment is a plus. GMU has two stand-by plants with a generating capacity of 13MW, therefore experience in the operation of diesel generation shall be considered a plus also. GMU, with a peak system load of over 10MW, has two substations that provide power to the 12.5KV and 4.2KV distribution system that is over 90% underground.
Electric utility employees will collaborate closely with the employees of the water utility that is also operated by GMU, therefore experience in water distribution and/or water treatment will be considered a plus. Rotating stand-by duties are required and will be shared with the water employees. Residency requirement to be located within 8 miles of Greenfield within 6 months of start date. Successful applicant will be required to obtain a class B CDL with air brake endorsement within 30 days of hire.

GMU offers competitive wages (2022 starting apprentice wages are expected to be over $28.00/hour with the top journeyman wages over $35.00/hour, entry level position wages will be dependent upon qualifications) with an excellent benefits package including IPERS, health, dental, eye, drug, life, 457K, sick leave, comp time, clothing allowance and vacation starting year one.
